Huntsman is seeking a DCS Board Operator supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Houston Port TEROL, Texas. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Job Scope

Through adherence to all established Operational and EH&S policies, procedures, and practices; performs all tasks necessary to ensure the safe and productive operations of the Houston Port Terol Plant.

Prioritized Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ability and proficiency to perform all Houston Port Production Operator positions including utility equipment.
  • Operation of Delta V DCS
  • Perform advanced trouble shooting of all units.
  • Responsible for the organization and leading of shift change relief meetings.
  • Ensures all shift activities and instructions are accomplished within prescribed operational and safety parameters to maintain optimal productivity; and to address issues at the appropriate organizational level.
  • Prioritize, make changes, and work with shift operators to maintain process and utility units running efficiently.
  • Understand process addition theory and works with lab on process glycol additions.
  • Performs issuance of permits and ensures procedural compliance.
  • Direct and make decisions regarding inclement weather procedures and direct responsibilities of others.
  • Completion of all paperwork and instructions (SAP, trucking schedule and forecast, rail switch, KPI, work order system, and blend sheets.

DCS Operation:

  • Provide training of board operators and basic Delta V DSC operation to other personnel
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Huntsman company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
  • Obtain a Grade II Stationary Engineer's License from the City of Houston within 12 months of accepting the position.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

  • Associate degree (2 yr) in Process Technology with 5+ years of specific work experience.
  • Formal Education may be substituted with 6+ years of prior petrochemical plant experience or completion of TEROL operator progression.

Certifications, licenses, or registrations:

  • Grade II Stationary Engineer's License from City of Houston.

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
  • Advanced level understanding of all unit process units and utilities procedures.
  • Theoretical knowledge of all process units.
